As a dedicated fan of the San Francisco 49ers and an ardent supporter of local high school football, this season has been nothing short of exhilarating. The Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos, our local high school team, delivered a remarkable performance throughout the year, culminating in a series of unforgettable games.
The Rhinos began their journey with an impressive undefeated streak, showcasing their dominance in both league and playoff games. Their offensive prowess was evident as they amassed a total of 709 points over the season, while their defense held opponents to just 283 points.
In the regional championship game held in Sacramento, the Rhinos secured a commanding victory with a 55-7 win over Patterson High School. This triumph propelled them to the Northern California championship, a home game that tested their resilience. In a nail-biting finish, the Rhinos edged out Wilcox High School with a 28-27 victory, demonstrating their tenacity and determination.
The culmination of their season was the CIF State Division 2-A Championship game against the Palos Verdes Sea Kings, held at Saddleback College in Southern California. Despite their valiant efforts, the Rhinos faced a formidable opponent and concluded the game with a 55-19 loss. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Rakowski of the Sea Kings delivered an exceptional performance, but the Rhinos’ standout player, Braeden Ward, rushed 23 times for 169 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his remarkable talent. Through it all, Coach Bean was fantastic, leading the team with skill and passion, and inspiring the players to give their all.
Throughout this thrilling season, I had the pleasure of attending every game, indulging in my favorite stadium snacks—nachos and pizza. The camaraderie among fans, the electrifying atmosphere, and the unwavering spirit of the players made each game a memorable experience.
As we reflect on this season, it’s essential to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of the Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos. Their journey has been a testament to perseverance, teamwork, and community spirit. While the final game didn’t yield the desired outcome, the season remains a historic chapter in our local sports narrative.
Looking ahead, the future is bright for the Rhinos. With a strong foundation and the invaluable experience gained this year, there’s no doubt that they will continue to achieve great success in the seasons to come.
