McBean Park holds a special place in my heart, as it serves as the backdrop for cherished traditions like the Lincoln 4th of July celebration, organized by the Lincoln 4th of July Foundation, of which I’m proud to be a member. Each year, our community gathers at McBean Park to celebrate Independence Day, and part of our festivities include using the horseshoe pits.
Last year, I was thrilled to see the collaborative efforts of the Friends of McBean Park, the Lincoln Community Foundation, the Lincoln Lions Club, and the Rotary Club of Lincoln to restore the horseshoe pits. With the invaluable help of Boy Scout Troop 150, who provided the labor, and the generous contributions of supplies from the aforementioned organizations, the horseshoe pits were beautifully restored in 2021, just in time for our annual 4th of July celebration.
However, the project didn’t stop there. Recognizing the need for a storage solution to keep the tools needed to maintain the horseshoe pits, the next step was to purchase a new shed for the area. I’m delighted to share that in February 2022, this goal was accomplished with the purchase of a Tuff Shed. Once again, the collaborative efforts of the Friends of McBean Park, the Lincoln Community Foundation, the Lincoln Lions Club, and the Rotary Club of Lincoln made this possible, demonstrating the power of great partnerships in enhancing McBean Park.
These initiatives not only improve the infrastructure of McBean Park but also enhance the overall experience for everyone who visits. I’m grateful to be part of a community that values collaboration and takes pride in making our public spaces even better for generations to come.
