Volunteering is fun and comes with some delicious perks. One of the best parts about our volunteer meetings is the pizza. As a pizza enthusiast, there’s nothing better than combining community service with a hot slice of my favorite food.

Yesterday we had our regular Lincoln 4th Of July Committee meetings. I was there enjoying some pizza, I received a generous donation from Henry Perla. This $500 check was from a fundraiser we held last month at the Villa Roma Restaurant. The moment was extra special because I was wearing my favorite t-shirt that boldly says “I love pizza.” Of course I had planned to wear this shirt because I was planning to eat pizza.

This donation will go a long way in supporting our annual fireworks show and day-long event, and it was an honor to receive it while celebrating with my favorite food. It’s moments like these that remind me why I volunteer and how rewarding it can be. Plus, it’s always nice to know that my love for pizza is shared and appreciated by my fellow volunteers.
