This past week, we hosted a bingo night to help raise funds for the Lincoln 4th of July Fireworks — and I’m thrilled to share that we raised over $12,000. That’s a big number for a single evening, and every bit of it goes toward making this year’s celebration something truly special for the entire community.
Having organized a number of these events through my work with the Lincoln Community Foundation, I’ve seen firsthand how much time and coordination goes into a successful bingo night. And I have to say — this one ran incredibly smoothly. From setup to payout, everything just clicked. The room was full, the energy was high, and people had a great time supporting a cause that brings joy to thousands every year.
A huge thank-you goes to the Lincoln Community Foundation. Their continued support for both the Lincoln Fireworks and so many other local nonprofits cannot be overstated. They make these types of events not only possible, but enjoyable and impactful. Whether it’s helping us with logistics, connecting us with resources, or just showing up and rolling up their sleeves, their role in these efforts is invaluable.
It’s easy to get caught up in the fun of bingo or the fireworks show itself, but what really makes it all work is the community behind it — the volunteers, the donors, the attendees, and the folks working quietly behind the scenes. I’m grateful to be a part of something that not only brings people together, but also gives back in such a visible, lasting way.
We’re on track for an incredible 4th of July celebration, and this bingo night was a reminder of just how generous and supportive Lincoln truly is. Thanks again to everyone who came out — and stay tuned, because we’re just getting started.
