Just when I thought the week couldn’t get any better, fate handed me a fluffy curveball named Junior. While out and about, we spotted a husky wandering the streets of Lincoln — no tags, no humans, just vibes. And as someone who absolutely loves dogs (and pizza), there was no way I was leaving him out there alone. Naturally, we did what any decent person would do: we lured him in with kindness, calm voices, and the promise of internet fame. Junior, clearly a good boy with great instincts, came right along.
We didn’t want to take him to the shelter or police department, so we skipped the microchip route and went straight to social media. We posted in every local Facebook group known to mankind and let folks know we had found a friendly husky — and that we were “holding him ransom / will trade for pizza.” It didn’t take long for the story to take off.
Within a couple of hours, we found the owner. Turns out Junior had gone on a solo adventure, presumably to sniff every bush from here to Roseville.
Now here’s the kicker: instead of a reward, the owner offered to buy us pizza. So yes, we traded a runaway husky for hot, cheesy gratitude. It was a very Lincoln kind of deal — spontaneous, community-powered, and ending with pepperoni.
Lincoln, you’re full of heart. And pizza.
