Lincoln High School Farm Greenhouse Improvements

Years ago, during a field trip with the Lincoln Leadership Class, I had the opportunity to tour the Lincoln High School Farm—a memorable experience that left a lasting impression on me.

Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to see the incredible progress made at the farm, thanks to a very generous donation from a local Lincoln resident. In collaboration with the Lincoln Community Foundation, the Lincoln High School Farm embarked on a project to construct a greenhouse on the property. It’s heartwarming to know that students who take classes at the farm played a hands-on role in assembling the pieces of the pre-fabricated greenhouse. This new addition to the LHS Farm facilities is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.

While the greenhouse stands proudly on the property, there’s still more work to be done to fully realize its potential. Plans are underway to add plants and implement a watering system to ensure their growth and flourishing.

Spanning 500 acres, the Lincoln High School Farm offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in agriculture and natural resources. Beyond traditional farming practices, the farm provides classes, field trips, and community events that cover a wide range of subjects, including wood technology/construction, media arts, biomed, computer science, engineering, and three agricultural pathways—agriscience, welding, and diesel mechanics.

It’s inspiring to see how the Lincoln High School Farm continues to evolve and expand its offerings, providing invaluable learning experiences for students and serving as a beacon of agricultural education in our community. As a member of the Lincoln Community Foundation, I take great pride in supporting initiatives like these that empower our youth and strengthen our community.
